Twelve Christmas Narratives

Years ago Christmas would never come soon enough, in todays terms, it was like being on hold with a customer service representative, it seems like it takes forever. Now it arrives quicker than it takes to get put on hold by that service rep. Maybe its a matter of the emphasis shifting from getting to giving. I use to think of myself as a pretty good gift giver - being able to ferret out a gift to the targeted party just by what I new about them and what they would like - or being general enough that you know that they just have to like it because it is just a good gift that any normal person would. Then I found out that in some cases it wasn't that I was a good gift giver but that the recipient was a very good receiver - i.e. they were really not all that impressed with the gift but they thought enough of me to make me think they did. Even though it is said that it is better to give than to receive - be a good receiver, it makes the giving much more fun.
